Big Win! Very Big Win!
Everything came together nicely tonight. Not only was this a big win to even up the series, but it was a huge emotional win over arguably the best pitcher in the history of the game.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I got goose bumps watching Brian McCann crush that Clemens fastball into the right field bleachers. I've never seen Brian run as fast to 1st base as he did after that shot. Boy, was he pumped up.
What can you say about Smoltz? After a rough first inning that saw him give up a run on 3 hits, he shut down the Astros for the next 6 innings allowing just 4 hits. The guy is just one heck of a big game pitcher.
It sure was nice to see LaRoche contribute as well. Two walks, a double, and 2 RBI...not too shabby.
And you know things are going the Braves way when Francoeur draws an unintentional walk!
I was disappointed to see Reitsma in the game AGAIN tonight, but at least he didn't hurt us this time. I'm still not comfortable with Bobby using him as the primary setup man, but maybe we'll see more of McBride, Devine, and Foster when the series shifts to Houston.
Man, what a difference a day makes! Tonight's game provided a much needed adrenaline rush. Now I'm going to crash!
