Open Thread - September 11, 2005 - Atlanta at Washington

September 11...it's hard to even type that date without conjuring up memories, very sad memories. Today is a very solemn day for all of us. It's the 4th anniversary of the worst attack ever on our country.

The 9/11 anniversary comes just a few weeks after one of the worst natural disaster this country has ever seen.

It's difficult to focus on sports since its significance pales in comparison to these two events in our country's history. Ironically, the Braves play today in our nation's capital, the place that represents so much of what this country stands for. Still, baseball and football (whose opening day is today) must take a back seat to the significance of this day.

So on this beautiful day in the Northeast, I will post this open thread with the scheduled pitching matchup. Feel free to comment about the game or share your reflections on 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina. We owe it to the people who suffered to respect this day and remember them with our thoughts and prayers. (Please, no political commentary. Any inappropriate comments WILL be deleted.)
