Braves Drop 5-4 Decision to Phils

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I'm getting a little nervous now. I've already chronicled the bullpen problems so I won't go there tonight even though Boyer took the loss.

Instead, let's look at the offense. Another 8 hit game tonight and 3 of the Braves 4 runs were driven in by Andruw again. Give Francoeur some credit for going 2-for-4 with a double, a RBI, and a nice catch to keep the game close in the 8th inning. But...where is the rest of the offense???? Langerhans and LaRoche are becoming liabilities. Furcal has been slumping and even Giles went hitless tonight. What is going on?

Let's look at the hit totals for the last 10 games...

8, 5, 9, 8, 10, 9, 7, 7, 5, 10

That's an average of 7.8 hits per game. Now if you have the Marlins pitching staff, that may be ok. But with the way the Braves bullpen has pitched and some questions marks in the rotation, after Smoltz and Hudson, this is getting a little scary.

If that weren't enough, Atlanta plays Philadelphia 5 more times and Florida 6 more times. And oh yeah...there's only 17 games left. Nervous yet?
