With Hampton unavailable and left-handed reliever John Foster battling some discomfort in his elbow, the Braves added left-handed hurler Chuck James to their roster on Thursday.
James made a rapid rise through the Minor League system this year. He began at Class A Myrtle Beach and ended at Triple-A Richmond. During his three stops at each Minor League level, the 23-year-old southpaw went 13-7 with a 2.12 ERA.
"He's a kid that challenges hitters and comes right at them," said Cox, who now has seen 18 different rookies, including 12 currently, appear on his roster this year.
