Open Thread - September 16 - Atlanta at New York

I originally planned on attending tonight's game, but a few personal obstacles got in the way unfortunately. Anyway, another great pitching matchup tonight and again, it's Pedro and Smoltz. The two are meeting for the 5th time this season.

ATL: RHP John Smoltz

  • 14-6, 2.95 ERA in 2005
  • 3-1, 1.61 ERA vs. NYM in 2005
NYM: RHP Pedro Martinez
  • 14-7, 2.93 ERA in 2005
  • 2-2, 2.57 ERA vs. ATL in 2005
At this point, the Mets are playing for pride, but if there's a team that they'd love to knock out, it's the Braves. I'm actually a little more nervous about this series than I am about the upcoming "second" series with the Phillies.

Some notes for tonight:
-Chuck James is in uniform and will be available for tonight's game
-Atlanta is 12-4 against New York this season
-Saturday's game is a the nationally televised game of the week on FOX.
-Andruw Jones is the 4th youngest player in history to hit 300 home runs. Only Alex Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr. and Jimmy Foxx have reached 300 at an earlier age
