Just one day after I blasted Adam LaRoche and said he should be sit down, the young first baseman went out and made me look silly going 4 for 5 with a home run, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored.
And despite Tim Hudson giving up 3 homers today, the Braves did some things really well. Let's give the bullpen some credit. We've killed them for so long, but today they did the job, completing 3 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and a walk.
Jeff Francoeur seemed to break out of his mini funk today as well, collecting 3 hits in 5 at bats, stroking his 19th double, and even stealing a base. Ryan Langerhans followed Francoeur with a nice day of his own, contributing 2 hits, 2 walks and 3 RBI.
This was a real good win for the Braves. Hopefully it's something they can build on. 14 hits, a strong bullpen performance, and contributions from the young players...that's the most excitement we've seen in a long time! Now it's time to finish this road trip with a win before heading back to Atlanta for some home cooking!
