Open Thread - September 21 - Phillies at Braves

With John Smoltz resting a tight right shoulder, Horacio Ramirez will get a chance tonight to get back at the Phillies who have roughed him up pretty well this season. In his past three starts against Philadelphia, Ramirez is 0-3 with a 15.09 ERA. The Phillies are hitting .403 against him this year.

So the task won't be an easy one. However, in 13 starts at Turner Field this year, Ramirez is 8-1 with a 2.98 ERA. Maybe there is hope after all.

The Braves will be looking to reduce their magic number from 6 to 4 with a win over Philadelphia tonight.

By the way, John Smoltz has been pushed back to Saturday when he'll lead the Braves against the 3rd place Marlins.

Chipper Jones missed the start of last night's game to be by his wife's side as the couple welcomed their third son into the world. Chipper did race back to the park, however, and managed to pick up an RBI. Not bad for a day's work!

See ya all later on. Enjoy the game.
