Open Thread - September 22, Phillies at Braves

In this, their final meeting of the season, the Braves and Phillies will clash with Atlanta sending Tim Hudson to mound to oppose Philadelphia's Jon Lieber.

Lieber is a 15 game winner for the Phils this year after coming over from the Yankees. He's been steady and solid if not spectacular.

Hudson, on the other hand, has been one of the veteran anchors of the Braves rotation. He's given Atlanta just what they needed at the top half of the rotation.

PHI: RHP Jon Lieber

  • 15-12, 4.40 ERA in 2005
  • 2-0, 3.46 ERA vs. ATL in 2005
ATL: RHP Tim Hudson
  • 13-8, 3.45 ERA in 2005
  • 2-1, 2.84 ERA vs. PHI in 2005
Some notes for today...
-Since hitting home run #50, Andruw Jones is just 1 for last 23
-The Braves have the second best home record in the NL and the 3rd best in the majors
-Mike Hampton is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on Monday and miss the entire 2006 season
-The Braves luck out this weekend and will not see Florida ace Dontrelle Willis. Scheduled starters for the Marlins are Josh Beckett, Brian Moehler, and A.J. Burnett

The Braves magic number remains at 6. Let's cut it to 4 today.
