Keeping Up with the Joneses...

Andruw goes deep first and Chipper add a blast later as the Braves escape more bullpen trouble and pull out a 4-2 win over the fading Mets.

A very encouraging day for John Thomson as the righthander threw 5 innings while allowing just 4 hits, 1 run and 1 walk. The bullpen hung on...barely. This time Davies and Boyer struggled. Who will be next??? About the only guarantee right now is Farnsworth. Although, I have to say I have still have confidence in Boyer. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Some notes on today's game...

  • The Braves only came up with 7 hits (following yesterday's performance of 5!) and Chipper and Francoeur accounted for 4 of them.
  • Andruw's homer was estimated at 452 feet (6th longest in Turner Field history)
  • Francoeur notched another assist when he nailed Victor Diaz at home while Diaz was attempting to score on a Beltran fly out. Francoeur now has 11 assists and is tied for the National League lead.
Big pitching matchup tomorrow as Smoltz takes on Pedro Martinez!
