SBN Awards: AL MVP

I personally thought that the selection of Joe Mauer as the SBN AL MVP was a bit surprising. I guess being in the NL I was a little out of the loop on how important Mauer was to the Twins. I think the AL voters were also a bit confused about who to vote as the MVP as eight different players received first place votes, and seven different players received second place votes. It was also interesting to see that Mauer got votes as low as seventh, and Jermaine Dye received a vote at every place, 1 through 10. Only Derek Jeter and David Ortiz were listed on every ballot. I think the writers will make it a bit closer of a vote, and may even select Jeter as the MVP over Mauer or Ortiz.

The NL results are tomorrow...
