I'm Back...and So Are the Braves!

Yup, it's me...Joe...back as a pinch hitter for the now famous Gondeee. Now I can't promise I can keep the site going like my partner, but I'll be sure to add some commentary and open threads and, oh yeah...some links.

Well, today's game was a nice start to a weekend series in Chicago, eh? Not that our squad actually earned this win as much as the Cubs gave it away, but I'll take it. Funny, Ryan Dempster look more like Chris Reitsma today than, well, the Ryan Dempster who recently converted 26 consecutive save opportunities.

The game was hardly an offensive show for the Braves, who went hitless for 6 2/3 innings. The boys from Atlanta kept plugging away, however, and worked the Cubs staff for 9 walks on the afternoon. Heck, even Jeff Francoeur walked this day!

Despite the lack of base hits, the 9th inning was exciting as many of the late inning games in recent weeks. And what a joy it was to see Ken Ray come in and pitch a 1-2-3 9th to earn his first save of the year. I mean, how often do we get to relax in the 9th inning of a close game?

All in all, it was a fine start to the Memorial Day weekend for the Braves and their fans. Enjoy the weekend everybody. I'll be back tomorrow with more.

Final Score
Atlanta     6  5  0
Chi Cubs  5 12 2

W - Mike Remlinger (2-2)
S - Ken Ray (1)
L - Ryan Dempster (0-3)
