The apple of many Braves fan's eyes, Ian Snell, is pitching against us today. For some reason people keep thinking that we can pry this guy away from the Pirates. If I were the Pirates there's no way in hell I'd let him go, or any of their other young pitchers. But then again, 15 straight losing seasons doesn't happen by accident, so who knows what decisions they will make.

The Braves start out the second half with this rotation: Hudson, James, Carlyle, Davies, and Reyes. It is an interesting and possibly a sad revelation that the state of our starting pitching is such that Buddy Carlyle is our third starter. Of course when we get Smoltz back all of those pitchers get bumped back one spot, but it's still interesting that Davies is the fifth guy out there. He had a good last start before the break, but he's got to be teetering on being demoted.

If you aren't tired of first half recaps and grades and all that stuff that's trotted out there this time of year, you can check out my First Half Report Card and Second Half Projection over at Sports Projections.com.

Regarding the Mid-Season interviews I didn't get too, I should know by now not to make schedules for myself - I never seem to keep them. I'm considering just posting the other interviews in mp3 format and not transcribing them - that just takes so long. I'll likely post one or two today and the rest tomorrow. And thanks to Timm at Rain Delay I'm on the verge of getting a mirror site set up for those people who can't access Media Fire. Check back shortly on each interview page for the alternate download site.
