Could Cubs come on Strong in the end for Peavy

The latest rumor / whisper / scuttlebutt from Yahoo's Tim Brown:

While there was “some movement” in negotiations with the Atlanta Braves and a “much better than reported” offer from the Chicago Cubs, a source with knowledge of the Jake Peavy trade talks said Thursday morning that the San Diego Padres have not agreed to players in either proposal.

And ESPN is reporting that the Cubs just make another trade:

The Chicago Cubs have acquired Florida Marlins reliever Kevin Gregg, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
The Marlins received 22-year-old right-hander Jose Ceda in return, according to sources.

Could this be a precursor to a Peavy deal for them? Perhaps a necessary piece so they can trade away another bullpen arm, or is this just insurance in case Kerry Wood departs. Amid the rumored Peavy trade, this is an interesting development.
