Let's focus on tradable commodities tonight shall we?
Lehigh Valley 4, Richmond 2
- B. Lillibridge 1-4 HR(3), 2 RBI, 2 K
- B. Jones 0-3 BB
- J. Parr 7IP 6H 2R 1BB 5K
Well Brent Lillibridge is hitting like a man possessed. It almost makes me think there was something wrong with his wrists earlier in the season, because nothing really takes the pop out of someone's bat like some messed up wrists. He is still only hitting .216 for the season but this month he is well over .300 and he has a SLG of close to .600. All this is very impressive and interesting to anyone on the outside looking in. Brandon Jones however is having his worst month of the season and only helped his trade value by flashing some skill when he was briefly called up.
Chattanooga 0, Mississippi 1
- K. Kaaihue 1-3 BB
- J. Schafer 1-4 2B, 2 K
- T. Redmond 7IP 4H 0R 1BB 4K
Well Todd Redmond has probably been our best pitcher in the minors over the last month (Save for maybe his teammate Tommy Hanson). Ok he had that one bad start last time out but he seems to always rebound from bad starts with really good ones. I will admit when we got him at the beginning of the season I didn't really think he would be an impact pitcher, but at this point I've got to think he may be on the 40 man roster by seasons end and may get some big league time if the team decides to see what they have for next season.
Myrtle Beach 4, Kinston 0
- W. Cabrera 2-4 2B, K
- T. Flowers 1-3 RBI, BB,2 K
- R. Reynoso 5IP 4H 0R 1BB 3K
Tyler Flowers might be trade bait. Why? Because the Braves like to surprise us sometimes by trading from a position of strength and as long as Brian McCann has 'Atlanta' scribbled across the front of his uniform, catcher is a postion of strength. Now he could be considered part of the first base depth, but I think we need to see exactly how much power he will have before we decide he can hold down the cold corner. Ryne Reynoso has been really freaking good so far this season with an ERA at 3.24 and is the first player in the system with 10 wins for one team (Deunte Heath has 11 between two stops). Guess we should keep a closer eye on him.
Augusta 2, Rome 0
- J. Heyward 0-3
- F. Freeman 1-4 2B, K
- A. Coe 2-4 2B, K
Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman are both very likely to be traded and we should probably enjoy our last few days with them while we can. Lots of zeroes being posted tonight by varying teams no?
Johnson City 3, Danville 0
- J. Gilmore 1-3 K
- S. Kent 2IP 0H 0R 0BB 2K
The young Aussie Steven Kent got hammered in his first 3 appearances this year and then turned around and has thrown three straight scoreless appearances. I think this kid is like 12 years old, but he is supposed to have a very live arm and he will have some room to fill out. Just have to get him some baseball experience.
Blue Jays 1, Braves 5
- T. Adair 2-4 2B, K
- C. Culver 2-4 2B, RBI, K
- R. Henry 1-1 3B, 3 RBI
- D. Delgado 5IP 6H 1R 0B 4K
Another one of our very young pitching prospects, Dimaster Delgado continues his impressive work and currently has 27 K in 26IP. We'll have to keep an eye on this one, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him crop up on some post season top prospect lists.
