Braves sign Armas

I hadn't noticed this, so it could have happend a while ago, but the Braves have signed Tony Armas to a minor league contract. He actually started for Mississippi Friday night, throwing a scoreless 4.2 innings, and was promoted to Gwinnett today.

You might have once known him as Tony Armas Jr., but, as he will very quickly point out, he has a different middle name than his father, former ML OF Tony Armas. The younger Armas pitched for the Expos/Nationals from 99 to 06, for the Pirates in 07, and the Mets in 08, compiling a 53-65 record with a 4.65 ERA in 185 games (167 starts).

We all know Gwinnett is very deep in starting pitching, but it never hurts to have another arm.
