Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap: 6/16

Gwinnett @ Indianapolis - Postponed

Mississippi - Off

Lynchburg 0, Myrtle Beach 1 - Game 1 - 7 Innings

  • E. Cordier 7IP 4H 0R 5BB 3K

All but two guys in the Pelicans lineup had a hit, but no one had more than one, but Eric Cordier didn't need much help tonight. Is Cordier still a prospect? Well he has a good arm, but he still hasn't gotten his control back since coming back from Tommy John surgery. At 23 years old he needs to prove this year that he can pitch above A ball for me to really consider him part of the future. But at this point he is in the same boat that Jeff Locke was, seemingly blocked in front and pushed from behind.

Lynchburg 10, Myrtle Beach 3 - Game 2 -  7 Innings

  • F. Freeman 2-3 2 HR(6)
  • C. Ludahl 1-3 HR(1)

The pitching in this game was attrocious but good ol' Frederick Freeman got back on his power horse. Freddie hasn't been at all bad this season but it was going on over a month and a half since he last went yard and I was starting to wonder what was up. Also one of his homers came against a left hander which is significant because Freddie struggles a little against LHP. This excites me when not much going on in the minors excites me right now. Still no Heyward.

Savannah 6, Rome 3

  • C. Culver 2-4 2B, RBI, K
  • B. DeVall 6IP 6H 5R 3BB 5K

This was really Brett DeVall's first bad start of the season. He just made a couple of bad mistakes by giving up two 2 Run homers in the 4th and 5th innings. They are the first two he has given up this seaosn so I will let it slide. But next time there will be hell to pay.
