I have to say it is hard to get excited when you know that Heyward, Hanson, Medlen, Hernandez or Locke aren't down there doing their thing. Let us see who can fill their shoes!

Wes Timmons has been on Fire lately hitting .444 in his last 10 games with 6 doubles, 11 walks and 3 stolen bases. Seriously, teach him to play RF and let him just go up to the plate and take his walks. Dude has 27 of them in 158 plate appearances. Granted he only has some limited doubles power, but I think I would rather stick a dude out there who can work a count and make contact that the corpse who is out there right now. Just sayin. (I'm not really advocating putting Timmons out there, though a little part of my brain really does want it to happen just to be rid of FYF.)

Mississippi was up against the guy who most likely now bears Tommy Hanson's crown as the top RHP prospect: Jarrod Parker. They did tag him for 2 runs but he struck out 9 men in 6 innings. Willi Cabrera might finally be starting to come around as he has posted an OPS over 1.000 this month and has equalled his HR output from last month in just 7 games. He posted an .818 OPS last year at Myrtle Beach with good power (32 2B and 16HR in 469 AB) with good control of the strike zone (35BB/51K). He is 22 right now so he could definitely still contribute in Atlanta in the next couple of years.
Myrtle Beach 5, Potomac 6 - Game 1 - 7 Innings

What a weird game. The Pelicans had 4 hits, 12 walks and only 3 strike outs for the game. Richard Sullivan seems to be settling in the Carolina League having allowed 3 runs or less in his last 4 starts along with a slightly higher K rate in that period. He is another ground ball pitcher in the low minors for us. We seem to have a lot of those these days.
Myrtle Beach 5, Potomac 1 - Game 2 - 7 Innings

Four games in two days for the Pelicans. That has got to be rough. I don't really know anything about CJ Lee, but he is nearly 25 years old playing in High A right now. He is hitting pretty well for the Pelicans but doesn't appear to have any pop in his bat and has never been effective stealing bases. Cole Rohrbough has a 5 something ERA right now but the fnny thing is he has given up 1 run ing 5 of his 7 starts and 3 runs in one of the others. His last start however, he gave up 10 runs and that pretty much ruined his stats. For the most part his control has been acceptable and his stuff is still good (he has 30K in 31.2IP) and I would guess that he is now our top pitching prospect (unless you want to make a case for Spruill or DeVall).
Rome 1, Charleston 4

Randall Delgado's ERA is doubling each month this season and I don't think that is really a good sign. His walks are escalating with each outing but he is maintaining a very good K rate so we know his stuff is still there. I'm not losing hope on a 19 year old, but maybe they need to pull him to the bullpen to help him get things ironed out for a few games.
