The Braves have agreed to terms with side-arming Australian reliever Peter Moylan on a one-year contract, thus avoiding arbitration. Moylan was the last arbitration-eligible Braves player. Mark Bowman reports the deal is worth $1.15 million -- a very reasonable price for a valuable setup man.
Bowman also reports that the Pirates have claimed outfielder Brandon Jones, whom the Braves DFA'ed to make room for Eric Hinske on the 40-man roster. That's a good situation for Brandon to be in, he should be of some use on that team.
