The Atlanta Braves have re-signed their most valuable pinch hitter from last year's team. Eric Hinske agreed to a one year contract with Atlanta that also includes a club option year. Hinske chose Atlanta over the Brewers, the other team that was interested in signing the veteran pinch hitter.
The dollar figures for the contract are not yet known, but it is believed to include lots of incentives based on plate appearances. This is a good deal by Frank Wren and company to secure one of the best pinch hitters in the business, and a great team player. Hinske also gives us a good power presence to back up Martin Prado in left field and Freddie Freeman at first base.

According to David O'Brien of the AJC, Hinske's deal includes a 2011 salary of $1.35 million, and a 2012 club option for $1.5 million with a $100,000 buyout. Several writers had earlier indicated on Twitter that the deal had added incentives based upon plate appearances, but there's been no further mention of that.
