In case you missed the news this morning, it was officially announced that Jason Heyward will be the opening day right fielder for the Atlanta Braves. Yep, he's won a job at just 20 years of age. He will wear uniform number 22.
If you're in a Braves state of mind this weekend, here is a great way to get your baseball fix right here in Atlanta:
With Opening Day just around the corner, the Atlanta Braves will host a FREE Open House this Saturday, March 27th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. showcasing the very best seats in the house and incredible ticket values, including a full season ticket packages for as low as $249 ($3 a game). Fans will receive a free premium bonus gift with their purchase: Batting Practice Experience passes, Diamond Dollars good for food or merchandise at the ballpark, or an autograph item form a current Braves player.
Fans can also (from 11am-to-1pm) run the bases, throw in the bullpen, shag fly balls in the outfield, play the interactive hitting and pitching games in Scout's Alley, meet former Braves pitcher Zane Smith, visit the Braves museum and Hall of Fame and tour Turner Field, all for free.
If you haven't seen Zane Smith this off-season, then you're just not trying, because it seems like he was at just about every caravan stop. It's worth stopping by for the free museum and Hall of Fame admission. That ticket special, by the way, is how I got started blogging back in 2006. It's a great deal, as you can get two tickets to every home game for $500. That gets you in the game, and from there you can usually sit wherever, or stand. Remember, Turner Field has some of the best standing room areas right behind home plate on the concourse. That might be the best standing room area in all of baseball. Anyway, just passing along the promos. If you're as excited as I am about number-22, then descend on the Ted.
