Myke Jones led the Jones Attack tonight for Myrtle Beach, finishing off the game with a walkoff home run.

Gwinnett, Durham - Postponed, Rain

Mississippi - Off

Myrtle Beach 7, Potomac 6

  • My. Jones 2-6, HR (1), 2 RBI, 2 E (1,2), .480 AVG
  • T. Jones 3-5, HR (3), RBI, .282 AVG
  • Mi. Jones 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI, .256 AVG
  • LV Ware 2-5, 2 SB (3, 4), .233 AVG
  • R. Delgado 4.2 IP, 5 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 K, 2.40 ERA
  • P. Clemens 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K, 6.08 ERA
  • L. Avilan 3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 6 K, W (1), 1.38 ERA
  • Potomac had trouble keeping up with the Jones (see what I did there?) as the trio went 8-16 with 5 RBI, a double, and 2 home runs, including Myke Jones' 12th inning walkoff. Of course, the shortstop also helped a pair of unearned runs score with 2 errors in the game. Unearned runs were a big part of one of Randall Delgado's worst starts of the season, as 4 crossed the plate against him, but he allowed 8 baserunners of his own on hits and walks, so he had his own hand in his troubles. After giving up runs in his last 2 appearances, Luis Avilan returned to his dominant form, allowing no base runners through 3 innings while striking out 6 and picking up his first win with the Pelicans.

    Rome 1, Savannah 3

  • K. Rose 1-5, 2B, RBI, E (7), OF Assist, .268 AVG
  • J. Hanson 2-4, .272 AVG
  • C. Brewer 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 3 K, 0.90 ERA
  • S. Kent 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K, 0.00 ERA
  • Kyle Rose collected just his 6th extra base hit of the season with a 7th inning RBI double. In the top of that inning he also managed to misplay a ball in centerfield that led to an unearned run and prevent another from scoring by throwing out Sand Gnats second baseman Alonzo Harris at home.Caleb Brewer's second start went well, though he's been prone to the walk with 7 in 10 innings so far. Steve Kent has another good appearance, just his second after missing all of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery. Rome's hitting coach Bobby Moore was ejected from this game, while the other team was hitting. I'd love to hear the story on that one. Michael Fisher, who spent last season playing for Myrtle Beach, had an RBI single in the game while playing first base for Savannah.

DSL Braves 3, DSL Rangers 4

  • G. Reyes 2-5, RBI, .195 AVG
  • R. Luna 4-5, 2B, 2 RBI, .385 AVG
  • E. Salcedo 0-1, .261 AVG
  • J. Saldeno 6 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 4 K, 1.59 ERA
  • Edward Salcedo struck out in his lone plate appearance before being taken out of the game. Hopefully he left because his visa issues were cleared up, not because he got hurt. Ronald Luna has been great this season, but he should be doing great, he's 27 years old! Jesus Saldeno, who's only 17, had another fine start, and he's been very good this year, striking out 17 in 17 innings, while walking just 4 and holding opposing hitters to a .115 average.
