Gwinnett - Off

With the rainout yesterday and the off day today, the G-Braves are getting some much needed mid-season rest.

Mississippi 3, Carolina 4

  • D. Linares 1-4, HR (9), RBI, .259 AVG
  • J. Gonzalez 2-3, E (7), .205 AVG
  • S. Diamond 7 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 4 K, 4.04 ERA
  • Scott Diamond has been kind of up and down this season, and right now he's up, with his second straight good start. In his last 13 innings he's allowed just 3 earned runs while striking out 13. Unfortunately, as often happens in the Minors, he wasn't able to get a win in either game. Donnel Linares is showing some decent pop this season, but he needs to take more walks, as his OBP sits at a lowly .298.

    Myrtle Beach 8, Potomac 0

  • LV Ware 3-5, 2B, RBI, .262 AVG
  • My. Jones 2-5, .467 AVG
  • T. Jones 1-3, HR (4), RBI, 2 BB, .284 AVG
  • D. Nelson 2-4, 2 RBI, .255 AVG
  • L. Sumoza 3-4, RBI, .220 AVG
  • J. Teheran 7 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 12 K, W (3), 1.38 ERA
  • S. Proctor 1.2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 B, 1 K, 8.44 ERA
  • Julio Teheran continues to put his name out there as the top pitching prospect, if not the top prospect, in all of baseball. He dominated a Potomac lineup with an average age of 23, a full 4 years older than his 19, striking out 12 while allowing just 4 baserunners. He has been every bit as dominant in his 6 starts for the Pelicans as he was in his 7 starts for Rome, and has actually been able to go deeper into games. Scott Proctor threw a scoreless 1.2 innings in his 4th appearance for Myrtle Beach. Myke Jones continues to stay hot as he and good buddy LV Ware collect 5 hits out of the top 2 spots in the lineup.

    Rome 0, Savannah 12

  • C. Harrilchak 2-4, 2B, .294 AVG
  • R. Hefflinger 2-3, .273 AVg
  • D. Hale 3.1 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, 1 K, 6.75 ERA
  • Cory Harrilchack and Robby Heffliner were the only Rome batters to get hits tonight as the team was shutout. At this point you almost have to believe there's something mental that inhibits David Hale when he starts a game. Whether it's some kind of personal pressure he puts on himself, or maybe he has trouble feeling the flow of the game that early, he's clearly a different pitcher out of the bullpen. In 17 relief innings he has a 3.17 ERA compared to his 9.00 ERA in 27 innings as a starter.
