It's been a pretty slow day for Braves news, but that just changed.

According to reports, the Braves and Chipper Jones will have a press conference sometime between now and this weekend. David O'Brien said nearly every member of the Braves' front office were gathering near the dugout.

My take: This is the beginning of then end for our beloved Larry Wayne "Chipper" Jones. Why would Chipper call a press conference to say he's returning? If he was returning in 2011, why not just tell reporters now?

With the departure of Bobby at the end of the season and the possible, if not probable departure of Chipper as well, there's only one thing left to do: Win the whole dang thing.

UPDATE: Chipper will address the media at 6pm in Atlanta. Stay tuned.

UPDATE #2: According to those at the press conference, Chipper announced that he's leaning towards retiring at the end of the season, but won't discuss it publicly until after the season. He'll talk with his family and friends and give us an answer once the offseason comes around. He doesn't want to take anything away from Bobby during his final season and says it's not fair to his teammates. The team needs to focus on winning games and the pennant.

UPDATE #3: HERE is an audio link from this afternoon. H/T to inertia53 for posting the link.
