Gwinnett 0, Syracuse 2
Jair Jurrjens' second rehab start was much better than his first, mostly because he pitched nearly twice as much and cut his walks from 4 to 1. He did give up too many hits, but, at the end of the day the results of these appearances don't matter, all that matters is he's ready to go when he returns to Atlanta's rotation. After struggling for a few weeks, Cory Gearrin has pitched 4.1 scoreless over his last 2 appearances. Freddie Freeman hasn't been getting on base at his usual clip this season, but he's improved that immensely recently, with a .433 OBP in his last 9 games.
Mississippi 2, Carolina 1
The M-Braves scored 2 first inning runs after Antoan Richardson and Alejandro Machado led off the game with bunt singles and were driven in by a Mauro Gomez groundout and a Donell Linares sacrifice fly. That's all Mike Minor needed as he overcame a tight strike zone to dominate the Mudcats for 7 innings. He used a diving slider that came in between 78 and 82 and changed speeds on his fastball all the way from 89 to 93 to limit Carolina to just 2 hits, one a solo homer by shortstop Kris Negron on a hanging slider.
Myrtle Beach 1, Frederick 9
JJ Hoover had been on a roll, allowing just 4 earned runs in 39.2 innings over 6 starts from May 12th to June 8th, but in his last 2 starts he's allowed 10 earned in just 6 innings. On the bright side, Scott Proctor had another successful appearance and the word is that he's going to be joining Mississippi when the team returns home on Monday. Myke Jones extended his hit streak to 9 games.
Rome 11, Charleston 6
Brett DeVall allowed a ton of baserunners, but managed to pitch around it, rebounding well after a tough outing his last start. In his last 10 games, Kyle Rose is hitting .368 with a .858 OPS, with 3 stolen base and just one CS. Cory Harrilchak is going strong as well, with a .359 average and .866 OPS in his last 10, with 5 steals and 2 caught stealings. And the good news keeps coming, as Christian Bethancourt has a .351 average and .801 OPS in his last 10 games.
DSL Braves 1, DSL Angels 0
Centerfielder Hector Garcia celebrated his 18th birthday with a pair of hits and 18 year old Edward Salcedo celebrated his own awesomeness with a pair of hits. 19 year old Jean Carlos Gil dominated the Angels over 5 innings and was followed by 17 year old Jesus Saldeno, who continued his great season with a scoreless inning. He's striking out a batter an inning while allowing just a .125 average against and a 0.67 WHIP.
