Kris Medlen and his dominant changeup open up the homestand against Andrew Oliver and the Detroit Tigers. Oliver is making his major league debut and it comes at a pretty good time for him. He gets to face an NL lineup in an NL park so he avoids the DH, and he faces a team that has struggled against left-handed pitching. It's always very hard to predict the performance of a pitcher in their debut, but Oliver does have some impressive stuff and a quality changeup of his own. Coming into the season, Oliver was ranked the fourth best prospect in the Tiger's system by Baseball America.
