Good Frank Wren Interview

8

While on Chuck N Chernoff, he talks about the Braves' caravan, the fanbase, Chipper, Braves' minor leagues, Carl Crawford, and rookie camp (to an extent). Best bits: Says he feels really good about Chipper right now. Thinks they have nothing to worry about using him right now. Concerned me a bit when he was asked if they considered Carl Crawford at all this winter. Not that I think they had the money, but says that Crawford isn't a "run producer," and that you get in trouble giving big money to that kind of player who is an OBP guy. I really hope they properly value Crawford-types up there at Braves' HQ. Asked about 2-3 years down the line, who he says at the starting shortstop (since the rest of the infield seems settled), he says Salcedo. Says he's really confident that Salcedo is going to hit, and that he's ahead of the curve in terms of understanding the game and his focus. Good to know they're still high on Salcedo.
