Late last night, Mark Bowman tweeted that the Braves had avoided arbitration with Eric O`Flaherty by coming to terms on a one-year contract for 2012 worth $2.49 million. That's a big jump from his 2011 salary, which was $895,000.
While he'll certainly regress some in 2012 from his career best 2011 season, $2.49 million isn't a huge overpayment for a very good left-handed reliever.
With O`Flaherty and Martin Prado both avoiding arbitration and coming to terms on one-year contracts, the Braves have only two arbitration eligible players that are un-signed. Those two, Jair Jurrjens and Michael Bourn, are both Scott Boras clients.
