Julio Teheran had an excellent start for Gwinnett, Buddy Carlyle was lights out in relief, Mississippi got three hit, Lynchburg had a big day from Nick Ahmed in a losing effort, and the lights were off in Rome in today's Minor League recap.

Julio Teheran was back to his usual dominant self tonight, completely shutting down the Norfolk Tides over 5.2 innings while punching out 7 men. Since his hiccup at the beginning of the year, Teheran has not been scored upon over 10.2 innings, posting an 11/4 K/BB ratio during that time. Hopefully he can start working on going deeper into games, but other than that there's not much to dislike from the young righty's last two starts. Buddy Carlyle had another stint in extend relief tonight, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. In his 4 appearances with Gwinnett so far, Carlyle has thrown 11 innings and only given up 4 hits and 5 walks, to go along with 9 punchouts. Carlyle's WHIP sits at .82, and if he keeps it up, you have to wonder if he could get a call up should Livan and/or Durbin keep struggling.
Tim Hudson takes the mound tomorrow for Gwinnett, in what should be his penultimate rehab start.

For the second night in a row, the M-Braves were only able to muster 3 hits, all singles, against the Jackson Generals. Today's performance was understandable though, as the M-Braves went up against top prospect Taijuan Walker, who twirled a gem for 6 innings, allowing only 2 hits while fanning 7 Braves. On the other side, Sean Gilmartin was way too hittable, and paid for it. The only positive I can draw from this start is that he kept his walks down and still managed to strike out a decent number. He should be just fine going forward.
David Hale will toe the rubber tomorrow and looks to rebound from a lackluster start to his 2012 campaign.

The Lynchburg offense got going tonight, keyed by Nick Ahmed batting in the 2 hole. Ahmed drilled his first homer of the year, a solo shot in the 5th, and also chipped in with an RBI single and a steal, already his 6th on the season. Over his last 7 games, the Hillcats' shortstop is batting .357 with 4 extra base hits, 7 runs, 5 RBI, and 5 stolen bases. Edward Salcedo, Robby Hefflinger, Chris Garcia, and Jakob Dalfonso all had multi hit games as well. To give you an idea of just how awesome Lynchburg's offense has been in the early going, 6 of the 9 starters tonight had batting averages over .300 (Rose, Ahmed, Gattis, Salcedo, Garcia, Hefflinger). And that was with Tommy La Stella getting the night off. Unfortunately Gus Schlosser wasn't up to the task, as he gave up 9 hits and 5 runs in his 6 innings of work, though he did strike out 6 men.
Lefty Ronan Pacheco gets the call for the Hillcats tomorrow, looking to snap Lynchburg's season-worst 2 game skid.
Savannah Sand Gnats 2, Rome Braves 1 - SUSPENDED after 4 innings
The lights weren't working right in Rome tonight, as a power failure led to the game being suspended in the top of the 5th inning. The game will be resumed from that point tomorrow, and we'll recap it in tomorrow's round up.
A.J. Holland will take the mound for Rome tomorrow in a 7 inning game to be played immediately after the conclusion of the suspended game.
