The Braves will certainly have a happy flight home. The offense rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to stun the Dodgers with a 4-2 win.

Brandon Beachy and Ted Lilly both brought sub-1.00 ERAs into their matchup, so runs would be at a premium. The offense between both teams were held to three total hits through the first three innings, but the Braves offense scratched across a run in the fourth when Dan Uggla singled home Freddie Freeman with two outs for the first run of the game.

The Dodgers tied the game in the fifth on a groundout by Dee Gordon. Meanwhile, Beachy had four strikeouts through five innings and had held Matt Kemp hitless to that point, striking him out in the first inning and inducing a ground out. Leading off the sixth, however, Kemp won the battle by belting his league-leading 10th home run to give the Dodgers the lead.

Beachy allowed two runs in 6.1 innings, striking out six. Lilly pitched seven innings, allowing only run. He retired the final 10 batters he faced.

The Dodgers took a 2-1 lead into the ninth and once again gave the ball to Javy Guerra to close out the game, but the Braves would have none of it. With one out, Guerra surrendered five straight singles, including a line drive by Brian McCann that struck Guerra in the face. Uggla, Chipper Jones and Jason Heyward followed with run-scoring hits of their own and with a two-run lead, Fredi Gonzalez handed the ball to Craig Kimbrel for the bottom of the ninth. Kimbrel finished off the Dodgers with ease, striking out two for his seventh save of the season.

Jonny Venters struck out the side in the eighth inning for the win.
