Erik Bedard has been great this year. The problem is, his team simply hasn't been. He has made four starts so far this season and has been handed four losses. His ERA sits at 2.63 and hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in any of his starts. This start to his season reminds me a lot of his mound presence. I haven't watched him since he started against us in interleague play last year, but Bedard just seems super sad and kind of slumps around the mound like he would love to be elsewhere.
Brian McCann's injury turns out not to be all that bad and Mac himself says that he would like to be back in the lineup on Monday, but of course Ross will start in his absence. He has been raking so far this season, going 5-for-11 with four RBI a homer and two doubles in his three starts.
