Teheran, Cunningham, Garcia, And Martin Are Hot, Terdoslavich And Briceno Are Not In The Atlanta Braves Minor League Hot Sheet

Julio Teheran had a pair of great starts, Todd Cunninham performed well in a rain-shortened week, Chris Garcia and Cody Martin starred for Lynchburg, and, n the bad side of things, Joey Terdoslavich and Rafael Briceno's struggles continued.

Julio Teheran RHP, Gwinnett Braves - 1-0, 2 GS, 13 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 10 H, 2 BB, 10 K - Teheran had a fine week, picking up a win and posting a 0.69 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, 6.9 K/9, 1.4 BB/9 and 5 K/BB in two starts. The 21 year old has picked up right where he left off in AAA last year, with a 3-1 record, a 2.48 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP.

Todd Cunningham CF, Mississippi Braves - 8-15, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 SB - Cunngham had a hit in all 4 games he played in this week, tallying a slash line of .533/.563/.600/1.163 in a week limited by several rainouts. The 23 year old outfielder is having a nice season, hitting .330 with a .385 OBP, a .783 OPS, 4 doubles, 8 RBI, and 4 steals in 88 at bats over 23 games.

Chris Garcia 1B, Lynchburg Hillcats - 8-21, 2 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 4 BB, 6 K, SB - The Braves intended for Garcia to act as a veteran presence on the Hillcats this season, and in addition to that he's been a wrecking ball at the plate, with a .345 average, a .456 OBP, a .943 OPS, 7 doubles, 3 homers, and 22 RBI on the season. He had another fine week, putting up a .381/.480/.762/1.242 slash line in 6 games.

Cody Martin RHP, Lynchburg Hillcats - 1-0, 7 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 7 K - Martin only made one start this week, but he picked up the win, striking out 7 over 7 shutout innings. For the season, the 22 year old has a 2.29 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, 10.7 K/9, 3.8 BB/9, and 2.8 K/BB in 35.1 innings over 7 appearances, 6 starts. Over his last 3 starts, he's allowed 2 earned runs over 20 innings, striking out 22.

Joey Terdoslavich 3B, Gwinnett Braves - 4-25, 2 RBI, BB, 6 K, 1 SB - Terdoslavich had another bad week, posting an anemic .160/.192/.160/.352 slash line. After a poor April that saw him hit .222 with a .641 OPS in 90 at bats, he's having a worse May, hitting .128 with a .319 OPS, and is striking out in 26% of his at bats for the season. Not only is the 23 year old struggling with the jump to AAA offensively, he's struggling with his move from first base to third base, racking up 13 errors in 31 games at the hot corner.

Rafael Briceno RHP, Rome Braves -0-1, 3.2 IP, 9 ER, 14 H, 1 BB, 4 K - Rain washed out Briceno's scheduled start on Sunday, which might have been a good thing considering the way his season is going. On Monday, he allowed 14 hits and 9 runs without making it out of the fourth inning, and for the season he has a 7.11 ERA, a 1.74 WHIP, and 12.5 H/9. The 21 year old has the second highest ERA in the SAL, only behind teammate Ernesto Silva. In his last 2 appearances, he's allowed 16 earned runs over 8 innings.

Joe Leonard 3B, Mississippi Braves - 2-19, RBI, 6 K - Leonard had a rough week, with a .105 average and a .210 OBP, striking out in 32% of his at bats. Leonard has yet to live up to the expectations of a third round draft pick, hitting .247 with a .689 OPS last year with Lynchburg in 2011, and now putting up a similar showing with a .244 average and a .613 OPS for Mississippi.

Josh Wilson IF, Gwinnett Braves - 3-22, 2B, 9 K - Wilson wasn't able to secure a job on Atlanta's bench in Spring Training, and he's struggled since, hitting .248 with a .665 OPS for the season, culminating with a .136 average and a .318 OPS this week. He also struck out in 41% of his at bats for the week, well above the 27% he's struck out in for the season.
