The Braves may be doing one of the coolest giveaways in team history this year. On June 9th the first 20,000 fans will receive a Sid Slides bobblehead, which commemorates the winning run of the 1992 National League Championship Series.
The Braves have finally given us a look at the bobblehead, which we reported on back in February. The bobblehead features Sid Bream sliding past Pittsburgh's Mike LaValliere, with umpire John McSherry calling him safe.
Surely the Braves got this idea from the Twins, who had a bobblehead night last year that featured Kent Hrbek pulling Ron Gant off of first base for an out. That play happened in game 2 of the 1991 World Series.
As a lover of all things bobblehead, and never one to turn down a baseball game AND a free toy, I will be one of the first 20,000 folks to get the Sid Slides bobble. Expect some live tweeting on that day.
