Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves Series Recap

Atlanta lost the series, but we got to witness yet another great Chipper Jones moment.
Atlanta lost the series, but we got to witness yet another great Chipper Jones moment.

After splitting the series against Pittsburgh, Atlanta welcomed the Phillies to town for three games. Philadelphia took two of three from the Braves, and here's a look at some notes from the series.

Joe Blanton made quick work of Atlanta on Thursday. The right-hander needed only 88 pitches to throw a three-hit shutout against the Braves. After Wednesday's great game, Atlanta's performance against Blanton was even more frustrating.

How awesome is Chipper Jones? After narrowly missing a walk-off homer in the 11th inning of game two, he launched one to deep right-center a couple pitches later. It was an absolutely incredible moment. He's still got it.

Brian McCann only played in the first two games of the series, but went 3-9 at the plate with two home runs (one a grand slam), five RBI's, and two runs scored. However, Mac and Michael Bourn badly need to work on their high-fives. (.gif credit to LookoutLanding)

Jason Heyward entered in the sixth inning of game two, and finished with two walks and a two-rbi single. Glad to see him back healthy after dealing with an oblique injury.

It wasn't the best series for the Braves pen, as the group as a whole gave up 13 runs (all earned) in 10.1 innings of work.

Freddie Freeman and Bourn were the only Braves to record hits in all three games of the series.

They get overlooked because both games were losses, but Brandon Beachy and Randall Delgado both pitched well in their starts. The duo combined for a line of 15 IP, 11 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, and 7 K's.

Up next: Atlant hits the road for a nine-game road trip that begins Friday with three-games against the Colorado Rockies.
