Reyes Homers Again While Jurrjens And Graham Have Excellent Starts To Highlight Sunday's Atlanta Braves Minor League Action

Elmer Reyes homered for the second straight day, Jair Jurrjens and JR Graham both had great starts, and Keenan Wiley had a 3 hit day that included a homer to send the game into extra innings.

Jair Jurrjens' second start with Gwinnett was another good one, as he allowed just 2 runs over 8 innings, giving up just 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3. He threw 61 of his 95 pitches for strikes, and after allowing 30 hits and 10 walks in just 16.1 innings in 4 starts in the Majors, he's given up only 9 hits and 4 walks in 15 innings over 2 starts in AAA. Cory Gearrin struck out 2 in a scoreless ninth inning. In 15.2 innings over 9 games he has a 0.57 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, 10.3 K/9, and 1.2 BB/9. After going 2-17 in his last 4 games, Ernesto Mejia went 2-3 today with a double and his fourth homer of the season. Christian Marrero reached base 3 times today, and for the season he has a .385 OBP.

On Monday, Gwinnett begins a series against the Buffalo Bisons, the Mets AAA affiliate. The game will feature a matchup of top prospects Julio Teheran and Matt Harvey.

Keenan Wiley hit his first homer of the year in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings, but a 12th inning error by Ian Gac allowed the winning run to score. Wiley has played well in very limited time this year, hitting .385 with a 1.102 OPS in just 26 at bats. Despite the costly error, Gac had a nice day at the plate, reaching base 3 times, snapping a 2-30 skid in his last 7 games. Evan Gattis proved he might be human, going 0-4 while reaching on a walk. The slugger is just 1-9 in his last 2 games. Andrelton Simmons extended his hitting streak to 8 games, going 13-32 with 4 RBI, 5 walks, and 3 steals in that span. Joe Leonard has gone 4-10 in his last 2 games. Zeke Spruill had a solid start, working around 10 hits to only allow 2 runs in 6 innings. It was a nice comeback after allowing 8 runs over 7.1 innings in his last 2 starts. Cory Rasmus made his fourth straight scoreless appearances, striking out 5 over 5 innings in that stretch.

Tommy La Stella had a 2 hit day that included his ninth double of the year. Edward Salcedo had a 2 hit day, and he's gone 4-13 in his last 3 games.
