Freddie Freeman Wins Second NL Player Of The Week Award This Season

How hot is Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman? Hotter than a Dancin' Bobcat? Yes. And also more en fuego than every other hitter in the National League. For the second time this season, and the second time in the last three weeks, the Braves super sophomore first baseman has won the National League Player of the Week award.

Matt Kemp won the award the first two weeks of the season, then Freeman, then Jay Bruce, and now Freeman again. That's some excellent company for FFF. This past week Freddie hit .367 with 3 HRs, 10 RBI, and a 1.130 OPS. It didn't hurt that three of those games were at Coors Field, a place that Frito destroys every time he visits. For his career, Freeman is now hitting .406/.412/.938 at Coors -- including 4 HRs, 3 doubles, and his only career triple.

Of course, it may be more about playing Colorado, and not necessarily about where he plays Colorado. In his brief career, Freeman's line against the Rockies is .435/.471/1.087. Perhaps the Braves need to schedule more games against the mile high team.

Martin Prado was the only Braves player to win the NL Player of the Week award last season, winning it for the week of May 9th through the 15th. Freddie also won the Rookie of the Month award last year for the month of July.

Chipper Jones was likely a close second to Freeman for Player of the Week honors. The veteran third baseman hit .429 with 2 HR and 9 RBI last week.
