Gwinnett Braves 3, Buffalo Bisons 4

  • Jose Constanza LF 3-4, BB, SB (5), .341 AVG
  • Luis Durango CF 2-5, 2B, RBI, SB (15), .254 AVG
  • Ernesto Mejia 1B 2-5, RBI, .262 AVG
  • Stefan Gartrell RF 1-3, HR (5), RBI, BB, .216 AVG
  • Julio Teheran 6 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 2.81 ERA

The plural of bison is bison. The people of Buffalo need to be informed about this. Julio Teheran had a solid start, allowing just 1 unearned run over 6 innings, walking 1 and striking out 3. After a rough first start of the year, he's calmed down and now has a 2.81 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP in 25.2 innings. Jose Constanza reached base 4 times and extended his hitting streak to 8 games. During that span, he's gone 14-41 with 2 doubles, 5 walks, and 3 steals. Luis Durango stole his 15th base of the season, giving him the league lead. Ernesto Mejia had a 2 hit game, making him 4-8 in his last 2 games. Stefan Gartrell hit 3 homers last week to earn him International League Player Of The Week, and he hit another one today. He now has a 8 game hitting streak, going 11-30 with a double, 4 homers, 11 RBI, and 4 walks in that span.

Eric Junge will face the Bisons tomorrow.

Mississippi Braves 3, Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2, 12 innings

Keenan Wiley scored the winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning on a wild pitch. The game ended up in extra innings after Ryan Buchter inherited a bases loaded situation in the ninth and allowed a runner to score, tying the game. Before loading the bases with two outs in the ninth, Jose Lugo had pitched a stellar game. He ended up being tagged with 2 earned runs over 8.2 innings, giving him a 1.45 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP in 18.2 innings over 3 starts with Mississippi. Chris Masters struck out the side in a scoreless inning, and e has 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings as a reliever. Evan Gattis hit his fourth homer in just his seventh game with the M-Braves, upping his RBI total to 9 and doubling his walk total to 4. Matt Kennelly reached base 3 times, and in his last 3 games, he's gone 4-8 with a double, a homer, 2 RBI, and 2 walks.

Sean Gilmartin will face Pensacola tomorrow.

Lynchburg Hillcats - Off

Aaron Northcraft will take the mound Tuesday as the team begins as series against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Rome Braves 6, Greenville Drive 11

  • Tony Mueller CF 2-5, RBI, .250 AVG
  • Kyle Kubitza 3B 2-5, HR (5), RBI, .260 AVG
  • Jakob Dalfonso 1B 2-5, RBI, SB (1), .295 AVG
  • Elmer Reyes SS 1-3, 2B, BB, .241 AVG
  • Rafael Briceno 3.2 IP, 9 ER, 14 H, 1 BB, 4 K, 7.11 ERA

Rafael Briceno had an awful day, allowing 15 baserunners and 9 runs without making it out of the 4th. In his last 2 starts, he's allowed 16 earned runs in just 8 innings, and for the season, his ERA has bloated to 7.11 and his WHIP is up to 1.74. Tony Mueller had a pair of hits and a RBI, and over his last 4 games, he's gone 5-15 with 4 walks. Kyle Kubitza hit his fifth homer of the year, and despite hitting just .189 in his last 10 games, the 21 year old is still having a nice season, hitting .260 with a .887 OPS through 104 at bats. Jakob Dalfonso broke a 0-11 slump over his last 3 games with a 2-5 performance that included a RBI and a steal. After homering in each of his last 2 games, Elmer Reyes doubled and walked today, making him 4-10 with 4 RBI in his last 3 games. Rome is just 6-24 on the year, and their pitching has been very poor, as they have a league worst 6.30 ERA and a league worst 1.69 WHIP. The offense isn't doing much better, with the team coming in at second worst in average, OBP, slugging, and OPS, with a slash line of .218/.301/.331/.632.

David Filak will pitch in the series finale tomorrow afternoon.
