So many base runners, and yet so much failure.

Atlanta left 13 runners on base, and they suffer a sweep at the hands of the Yankees with a 3-2 loss.

Derek Jeter doubled and scored in the first against Tim Hudson, but that was all New York could muster through the first five innings against the Atlanta pitcher. Braves hitters, however, had plenty of hits against Hiroki Kuroda, but could never capitalize on the numerous chances they had, save one.

With rain falling throughout the game and lightning surrounding the park and Martin Prado on first, Brian McCann provided some thunder of his own with a loud two-run home run in the fifth that gave Atlanta a brief lead. It was only brief because Curtis Granderson answered with a two-run homer of his own in the sixth off Hudson to give New York the lead back.

That's how the game would end, but it certainly would've ended much differently had Atlanta's hitters gotten hits when they needed them. Michael Bourn left five on base, including grounding out with the bases loaded in the second. Altogether, seven runners were stranded in scoring position in the game, and at least one base runner in every inning. They had 12 hits, but only two of them with runners in scoring position. Prado hit into a double play with two on in the eighth.

If there's anything good to take away from this game, Hudson pitched great outside of the home run. He struck out eight in six innings and didn't walk a batter.

Atlanta has now lost four straight after having won six in a row.
