Ernesto Silva struggled with Rome, going 0-6 with a 6.53 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP in 51 innings, but he flourished in his first start this year for Danville, allowing just 1 unearned run over 6 innings, picking up his first win of the year. Gerardo Reyes had a perfect day at the plate, rapping out 4 singles and driving in a pair of runs. The 21 year old also struggled with Rome this year, going just 2-26. Kurt Fleming had a 2 hit day, making him 3-7 with 2 walks in his last 2 games. Carlos Franco reached base 3 times today, and the 20 year old Dominican has reached in 10 of his 19 plate appearances this season. Josh Elander stayed hot, with the first multi-hit game of his career making him 4-7 with 2 walks on the season. Edison Sanchez rapped out a pair of doubles, making him 5-13 in his last 3 games.

Luis Merejo made the second start of his professional career, and it was a great one, as he allowed just 1 earned run and struck out 7 in 5 innings. The 18 year old Dominican righty has now struck out 13 in 10 innings this year. Richie Tate, working on coming back from missing all of 2011 to injury, was great in relief, tossing 3 scoreless innings, giving him 7 scoreless on the year. After going 1-10 in his first 3 games, Seth Moranda was 2-4 today. The 19 year old hit .200 with a .598 OPS in 80 GCL at bats last season. Anthony Nunez doubled today, and the 22 year old Dominican has a hit in all 3 games he's played in this year.
The GCL Braves are off on Sunday, before taking on the Blue Jays on Monday, with Abraham Espinosa scheduled to start.
