That noise you just heard was a collective sigh of happiness from Braves nation after seeing Julio Teheran's line. Teheran was dominant tonight, slipping back into the form that so many of us were used to after his stellar 2011 AAA campaign. Teheran tossed 8 innings of 5 hit ball, allowing only 1 run. He didn't walk a man and whiffed 9. For a pitcher who has struggled with his control of late, the 0 walks are as encouraging as the 9 punchouts. Teheran was pounding the zone all night, throwing 74 of his 103 pitches for strikes. He got 7 groundouts to only 4 flyouts. It's not much of a stretch to say this was his best start of the season. Jose Constanza and Jose Yepez both collected 2 singles, the only G-Braves to record multiple hits on the night. Stefan Gartrell was on base twice as well, swiping his 9th bag of the year.

Despite only collecting 10 hits combined over two games of a doubleheader, the M-Braves split with the Generals this evening. In game one, Phil Gosselin and Matt Kennelley accounted for 4 of Mississippi's 5 hits. Kennelley was 2-3 with a double, run, RBI, and his 2nd steal of the year. Brent Leach pitched decently, allowing only 1 run over 5.2 innings despite walking a staggering 6 men. The nightcap was the Todd Cunningham show, as the centerfielder doubled, homered, and walked in 4 PAs. Jose Lugo pitched decently, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings while striking out 7, but Mark Lamm blew the save.

The Hillcats won handily tonight behind the power bats of Adam Milligan and Edward Salcedo. Salcedo had an excellent day at the plate, flashing both patience and power as he went 1-2 with a 3 run homer and 2 walks. Salcedo also swiped his 22nd base of the year, good for second best on the team behind Nick Ahmed. Milligan picked up where he left off yesterday, going 2-4 with a double. He also reached on error and scored 3 times, all while stealing his 2nd base of the year. Gus Schlosser had an OK start, but kept Lynchburg in it. He went 5 innings, allowing 10 baserunners but only 3 runs. He struck out 3 en route to his 13th win of the season. Juan Jaime pitched two hitless innings to nail down the win.

Alex Wood tossed 5 innings of shutout ball as Rome blanked the Drive tonight. Wood was on his game, allowing 6 hits while walking none and striking out 4. The outing was good for his 3rd win of the year, and lowered his ERA to a minuscule 1.38. Not bad for the first 39 innings of pro ball. Robby Hefflinger provided the big blast for Rome, clubbing a three run home run, his 9th on the year. Kyle Kubitza notched a single, double, and steal on the evening while Brandon Drury continued his resurgence with a pair of hits. Navery Moore was excellent in long relief of Wood, allowing on 3 baserunners in 3 innings while whiffing three.

The D-Braves won a slugfest tonight, topping Pulaski 8-7. Jose Pereza had a great game leading off, singling, doubling, and scoring twice. He was pulled mid game for Josh Elander, who had a pair of hits in 2 at-bats as well. Levi Hyams collected a single and a double as well, scoring once and driving in one. Williams Perez started and gave up 4 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings pitched. He did strike out a man an inning, however.
Danville takes on Pulaski again tomorrow.

The GCL Braves piled on the Tigers tonight, thanks to a pair of big home runs. Eric Garcia hit his 2nd of the year, a 3 run shot, in the first inning. Robinson Arno, who already had an RBI double earlier in the game, put this one out of reach with a grand slam in the 8th inning, giving him 5 RBI for the day. Arno and Garcia were responsible for 8 of the Braves' 9 runs on the day. They needed most of them too, as Andy Ubiera was far too hittable. he allowed 9 hits in 4.1 innings pitched, on his way to allowing 4 earned runs. At least he didn't walk anyone.
The GCL Braves play the GCL Yankees tomorrow afternoon.
