The G-Braves fell to the Tides yesterday after Norfolk teed off of Cole McCurry out of the G-Braves' pen. Yohan Flande had an OK start, allowing 3 earned runs over 5.1 innings. Flande allowed 8 hits, but helped himself out by not walking a man and striking out 5. Ruben Gotay had a good day at the plate, banging out 3 hits including his 5th homer of the year. Brian Friday was perfect at the plate, reaching in all 4 PAs on 2 walks and 2 singles. He also stole his 8th base. Speaking of steals, Luis Durango reached 3 times and swiped 2 bags, extending his International League leading total to 43 steals.

Sean Gilmartin, who was originally scheduled to go yesterday, will pitch today.

Mississippi Braves 2, Jackson Generals 5

  • Joey Terdoslavich, 1B: 2-4, 2B, RBI, .313

  • Matthew Kennelly, C: 1-3, R, BB, .280
  • J.R. Graham, SP: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 4.45 ERA

J.R Graham had a bizarre start for Mississippi, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits in only 4.1 innings, but managing to whiff a whopping 6 batters as well. Alas, it was not good enough to keep Mississippi in the game, as the M-Braves fell 5-2. Joey Terdoslavich was the only Mississippi batter to record a multi hit game, going 2-4 with an RBI double. Jason Christian and Matt Kennelly each singled and walked, and the pair scored Lynchburg's only runs of the evening.

Gary Moran looks for his 6th win of the year tomorrow against Jackson.

Lynchburg Hillcats 1, Wilmington Blue Rocks 2 - 10 Innings

  • Matt Weaver, 2B: 2-4, 2B, .226
  • Emerson Landoni, SS: 1-4, HR(3), .216

  • Ryne Harper, RP: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K, 2.29 ERA

Michael Lee turned in a solid, if lucky, start for the Hillcats, allowing only 1 run over 5 innings. He did allow 8 baserunners, but managed to get out of trouble with 5 punchouts. The Hillcat bullpen, led by Ryne Harper, pitched phenomenally until the 10th, when Ian Marshall fell apart and allowed the Blue Rocks to walk off on 3 straight walks. Emerson Landoni provided all of Lynchburg's offense with a solo home run, his 3rd of the year. Matt Weaver had 2 of the Hillcats' 5 hits tonight, singling and doubling.

Aaron Northcraft pitches today for the Hillcats.

Lexington Legends 0, Rome Braves 5

  • William Beckwith, DH: 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, .300

  • Nathan Hyatt, RP: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 0.93 ERA

Fabian Williamson and the Rome bullpen combined to 3 hit the Lexington Legends tonight as Rome won 5-0. Williamson allowed 3 hits and 4 walks over 6.1 shutout innings. He only struck out 3, but managed to blank the Legends. Ian Thomas threw 1.2 hitless innings in relief of Williamson, and Nathan Hyatt closed out the win by striking out the side. Hyatt has had a phenominal year with the Braves so far, posting a 1.80 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 10 innings at Danville before being promoted to Rome. In Rome, he's been just as good, posting a 0.93 ERA in 9.2 innings of work with 11 strikeouts. William Beckwith, returning to the lineup after a few days off, went 2-3 with a double, walk, and 2 RBIs. Tony Mueller also notched a 2-hit game as well.

David Starn pitches tomorrow against the Legends.

  • Roberto Estrella, SP: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 9 K, 6.75 ERA

The GCL Braves won a laugher today, scoring 9 runs on only 7 hits. The GCL Yankees committed an astronomical 7 errors leading to 7 unearned runs for the Braves. Anthony Nunez drove in a pair, going 2-4 with a stolen base as well. Eric Garcia notched a multi-hit game as well. Conner Lien, despite going hitless, reached twice and swiped a pair of bags. All this overshadowed a dominant start by Roberto Estrella, who allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings, but didn't walk a man and struck out a whopping 9 batters.

The GCL Braves take on the GCL Phillies today at noon.
