Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves Series Recap

Coming in on a five-game winning streak, Atlanta upped that to seven before falling in game three of the series. Even with the winning streak gone, the Braves have to be more than pleased with taking three of four from the Marlins. Some notes from the series:

Big ups to the Braves bullpen. The group put together this line during the series: 15.2 IP, 14 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 13 K. That'll work just fine.

Jason Heyward continued his great season with a big series. He went 7-18 with a walk, six runs scored, and a home run.

Freddie Freeman also had a big series, racking up nine hits including three doubles.

Carlos Lee had a productive series for Miami, as he went 8-13 with two walks.

After a rough first inning, Ben Sheets battled back and pitched very well in game three of the series. Having been very flyball prone in his first few starts, Sheets coaxed seven ground-ball outs and struck out eight in 6.2 innings of work.

Another start who made a good impression was Kris Medlen, who scattered three hits over four innings in his first start since 2010. He'll start again Sunday with an increased pitch count in the stead of injured Tommy Hanson.
