Hudson Earns 100th Win With Braves In 4-1 Victory Over Astros

Tim Hudson has put together a nice career with the Braves and he added to it with a personal milestone, earning his 100th win as a Braves pitcher in an impressive outing, defeating the Astros 4-1. The win moves Hudson to within eight wins of 200 for his career.

In Armando Galarraga's first start ever against the Braves, he wriggled out of trouble in the first inning after walking the bases loaded, but Atlanta tagged him for a pair of runs on a one-out double by Chipper Jones in the third, scoring Martin Prado and Jason Heyward. One out later, Dan Uggla popped up what was sure to be the final out of the inning, but Houston shortstop Marwin Gonzalez lost the ball and it dropped for what was ruled a run-scoring double.

The next inning, Prado doubled home Michael Bourn for Atlanta's fourth run of the game and that was all Hudson would need. He escaped trouble in the first and fourth innings, allowing a pair of base runners each time. All Houston could manage against Hudson was a single unearned run, an RBI groundout by J.D. Martinez in the sixth, in his 7.1 innings. Hudson allowed just four hits.

Galarraga walked seven in his 5.1 innings, but only one of his walks scored. The Braves were 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position, leaving 10 on base.

Craig Kimbrel easily struck out the side in the ninth for his 31st save.
