Braves Quote For The Day ... Winning Without The K

A strange thing happened in last night's game that hadn't happened to the Atlanta Braves since 1995:

From Elias: The Braves defeated the Phillies by a score of 6-1 despite the fact that none of their three pitchers registered a single strikeout. It marked the first time Atlanta pitchers did not strike out a batter since August 15, 1995, when the Braves defeated the Marlins 4-1.

Atlanta starter Ben Sheets earned the victory, the first time he has won a game without registering a strikeout in his career.

A win is a win. And any win that harkens back to 1995 sounds good to me.

Quick trivia: Name the two players or coaches from that August 15th game in 1995 and last night's game to be in uniform for both games. The answer after the jump...

That August 15th game in 1995 was started by Tom Glavine, who went 8 innings, allowing only 4 hits and 2 walks. The only run charged to Glavine came on a home run off the bat of ... wait for it ... Terry Pendleton, who was playing for the Marlins that year. Chipper Jones was also in uniform for both games. Eddie Perez made his major league debut that year in September, so he wasn't on the roster yet.
