The Atlanta Braves have sent minor league right-handed pitcher Greg Ross to the Detroit Tigers to complete an August 31st trade that brought utility player Jeff Baker from Detroit to Atlanta.

Ross was drafted in the 18th round last year out of Frostburg State University in Maryland. He spend this season in the single-A Rome Braves starting rotation, throwing 131 innings, while putting up a 4.60 ERA and a 1.420 WHIP. He's never been considered a prospect, more of an organizational arm.

Since being acquired from Detroit, Jeff Baker has played sparingly for the Braves. He's make it into only 10 games, compiling only 10 plate appearances and just two starts. He has only played left field for Atlanta.

We haven't seen enough of Baker to get a good read on him. He seems like a capable utility guy and pinch hitter, and I suppose he's doing about as good as our other pinch hitters, which is not good.
