Fave Brave 2013, Elite Eight Showdown: Jason Heyward vs. Jonny Venters

Jason Heyward faces off against Jonny Venters to determine who is the fans' favorite Atlanta Braves player in 2013.

Talking Chop wants to find out which Atlanta Braves player is the fans' favorite this year. After three weeks of voting, you have determined who your two favorite starting pitchers are, who your two favorite relievers are, and who your four favorite position players are.

We tallied the votes through the polls on this site and Twitter voting, and the Elite Eight are: Jason Heyward, Craig Kimbrel, Kris Medlen, Freddie Freeman, Tim Hudson, Brian McCann, Andrelton Simmons, and Jonny Venters.

This week each player will face off against another player, March Madness style. Bravesetology will pit hitter against pitcher, young against old, favorite against favorite, and you the fan will ultimately determine who will be the Fave Brave 2013.

In the first matchup, we've got number-1 seed Heyward taking on number-8 seed Venters. Here's a little bit about each player:

Jason Heyward, 23, has quickly developed into one of the best outfielders in Major League Baseball since bursting onto the scene in 2010. Once the top-prospect in the game, two very impressive seasons have led many to believe he is the new face of the Braves.

Jonny Venters, 27, has been one of the best relievers in either league the past three years. Over the course of 230 innings, Venters has posted an ERA of 2.23 and has struck out more than a batter per inning. Armed with a hard sinker and nasty slider, Venters should star in baseball's best bullpen this summer.

You can vote in two ways. The first is in the poll provided below. The other way is to tweet #TeamHeyward or #TeamVenters on Twitter, along with #FaveBrave2013. You've got 24 hours to advance one of these players to the semifinal round.
