Talking Chop wants to find out which Atlanta Braves player is the fans' favorite this year. After three weeks of voting, you have determined who your two favorite starting pitchers are, who your two favorite relievers are, and who your four favorite position players are -- the Elite Eight.
This week each player will face off against another player, March Madness style. Bravesetology will pit hitter against pitcher, young against old, favorite against favorite, and you the fan will ultimately determine who will be the Fave Brave 2013.
In the third matchup we pit the newly popular starting pitcher Kris Medlen, the number-3 seed, against one of the veterans on the team, Brian McCann, who came in surprisingly low as the number-6 seed. Here's a little bit about each player:
Kris Medlen was arguably the best pitcher in baseball after the All-Star Break in 2012. The baby-faced assassin is now poised to lead the Braves' starting rotation in 2013 and for years to come. One of the best personalities on the team, Medlen will look to help fill the void in the clubhouse left by Martin Prado, David Ross and others.
Brian McCann is on pace to make the Hall of Fame. The only issue is whether or not he will be able to stay healthy enough behind the plate to head to Cooperstown one day. Regardless, Mac has been the best offensive catcher in baseball since debuting in 2005 and he's a very well respected guy both on the field and in the clubhouse. 2013 may be his final year with the franchise as free agency looms.
You can vote in two ways. The first is in the poll provided below. The other way is to tweet #TeamMedlen or #TeamMcCann on Twitter, along with #FaveBrave2013. You've got 24 hours to advance one of these players to the semifinal round.
Craig Kimbrel beat Andrelton Simmons on Tuesday, and advances on our Bravesetology Bracket. Could today be the day for an upset?
