Opening Day is officially one week away. Even with this past offseason being one of the busiest in franchise history, it's been far too long since the Braves were playing at Turner Field.
There were two interesting developments to come out of camp over the weekend.
Julio Teheran continued having arguably the best spring of any pitcher in baseball with another dominant no-hit performance against the Astros. He struck out 10 batters over six innings. The lineup he faced won't exactly draw any comparisons to the '27 Yankees, but those numbers are damn impressive regardless of the opponent.
In a bit of news that isn't so good, it seems Brian McCann might not be back in Atlanta until early May. It was announced he will not play in any Minor League rehab games before April 16. He is yet to appear in any Spring Training games.
The club had been hoping for a mid-April return, but barring an accelerated recovery the next couple weeks, that seems unlikely. Slow and steady wins the race, I suppose, and there's zero reason to rush Mac back with Laird and Gattis more than capable of holding it down behind the plate.
