Braves Spring Training Game 16: Atlanta Braves @ New York Yankees

An open thread to discuss the Braves' Spring Training game against the Yankees

USA TODAY Sports

The Braves travel to George Steinbrenner Field this afternoon to take on the Yankees in the 16th game of Spring Training. The Braves have already played the Yankees twice this spring, winning once and losing once. The Yankees will be playing today's game with high emotions, as longtime Yankee closer Mariano Rivera announced this morning that he would retire at season's end. Get ready for a bunch of crazy gifts, Mariano! (Let's be real though, nothing can top a surfboard, right?)

The Braves will hand the ball to Mike Minor today for his third start of the spring. In his previous 5 innings of work, Minor has allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. The Braves will field the following lineup behind Minor:

  1. Jordan Schafer, CF
  2. Tyler Pastornicky, SS
  3. Freddie Freeman, DH
  4. Dan Uggla, 2B
  5. Juan Francisco, 3B
  6. Chris Johnson, 1B
  7. Gerald Laird, C
  8. Todd Cunningham, RF
  9. Joey Terdoslavich, LF
If you're looking at people who are being checked out for their utility, keep an eye on Chris Johnson at first and Terdoslavich in left. Johnson could end up being Freeman's primary backup, while the Braves seem interested in seeing how Terdoslavich looks in the outfield.

Today's game can be heard on 680 The Fan, called by Ben Ingram and Don Sutton. It will also be televised on the YES network, as well as streamed live on MLB.tv.
