Braves Keep Teheran Up the Rockies, 11-2

The lineup works.

Justin Upton had his best night in a long time as he basically bookended the Braves' scoring with home runs. He blasted a 2-run shot in the bottom of the first, and he drilled a 3-run shot in the bottom of the eighth. It was his second 2-homer game of the season - the other was April 6th against Chicago - and it's nice to see after being a little rough for the past few months.

Jason Heyward and even Julio Teheran added to the scoring. Teheran doubled in Andrelton Simmons in the second, and he scored on a Heyward bomb in the fourth. Other than all that, the only other offense was a couple Chris Johnson RBI singles (ho-hum) and a Brian McCann RBI groundout. The only other offense heh... It's pretty safe to say the Braves enjoyed an excellent offensive series, scoring at least 9 in each game and 40 runs overall.

On the mound, Teheran was okay. He ran up an early pitch count as he failed to put away hitters early, but by the time he was done, he lasted 5 innings, struck out 11, and walked 2 while giving up just one run. One would've liked to see a better outing, but you can live with this.

The bullpen did a solid job. The only run allowed came after David Carpenter allowed a couple hits, and then Fredi inexplicably took him out to let Luis Avilan pitch to two guys hitting from the right side. Johnathan Herrera laced an RBI single.

Bottom line: Great series for the Braves. 4-game sweep. Current 7-game winning streak. 11.5 game lead in the division.
