Gwinnett dropped their series opener with the IronPigs 6-1 last night. Gerald Laird started his rehab with an 0-3 night, while Jordan Schafer finished his with an 0-4. Schafer, who was called up after the game, finishes his 8 game rehab stint with Gwinnett an underwhelming 2-32. Both hits were doubles. Yohan Flande was hammered by the Phillies AAA affiliate and was lucky to only allow 3 runs.

Jackson Generals 2, Mississippi Braves 11
  • Myke Jones, CF: 3-4, 2B, BB, .260
  • Christian Marrero, 1B: 2-3, 2B, HR(8), .233

  • Dan Brewer, RF: 2-3, 3B, .267
  • Mitch Atkins, SP: 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 2.65 ERA
It was the Christian Marrero show last night for Mississippi, as the first baseman homered, doubled, walked, and drove in 5 of the M-Braves' 11 runs. Myke Jones continued his torrid hitting out of the leadoff spot, reaching base 4 times with a walk, 2 singles, and a double. Barrett Kleinknecht and Dan Brewer each chipped in 2 hits as well. Mitch Atkins was solid, limiting Jackson to 2 runs on 7 hits across 7 innings of work.

Lynchburg Hillcats 8, Wilmington Blue Rocks 10
  • Kyle Kubitza, 3B: 3-3, 2B, 2 BB, .269
  • David Rohm, DH: 2-5, .291
  • Elmer Reyes, SS: 3-4, .279
  • Trenton Moses, 1B: 2-4, 2B, .229
  • Greg Ross, SP: 5 IP, 8 H, 6 R(3 ER), 2 BB, 6 K, 3.43 ERA
It was an ugly slugfest last night between Lynchburg and Wilmington, as the teams combined for 18 runs and 7 errors. Greg Ross gave 6 runs, but half on account of the Hillcats' poor defense. Kyle Kubitza had a perfect night at the plate, reaching in all 5 of his plate appearances; he was 3-3 with 2 singles, 2 walks, and a double. Elmer Reyes notched a three-hit game as well.

Rome Braves 5, Charleston River Dogs 0
  • Kyle Wren, CF: 1-4, BB, .323
  • Jose Peraza, SS: 1-4, .279
  • Eric Garcia, 1B: 2-4, 2B, .266
  • Wes Parsons, SP: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R,  0 BB, 8 K, 2.75 ERA
Wes Parsons was the story of Rome's win last night, as the righty threw 7 innings of 2-hit shutout ball. This followed his complete game 2-hit shutout from earlier in the week, giving him a line of 16 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 15 K over his last 2 starts. At 20, Parsons is an average age for the league. On the offensive side, Rome notched 5 runs on 8 hits. Kyle Wren was on base 2 more times tonight, bumping his OBP to .368.

Bristol White Sox 7, Danville Braves 9
  • Victor Reyes, LF: 2-5, .286
  • Victor Caratini, 2-3, 2B, 2 BB, .315
  • Carlos Sanchez, C: 2-3, 2B, .244
  • Mikey Reynolds, 2B: 0-2, 3 BB, SB(8), .321
  • Tyler Brosius, RP: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 1.59 ERA
Danville broke out the bats last night, putting up 9 on Bristol. Victor Caratini kept up his stellar work, going 2-3 with a double and two walks. One has to wonder why he hasn't received a promotion yet. Mikey Reynolds is embracing his new leadoff role, as he drew 3 walks and stole his 8th base of the year. Victor Reyes continues to hold his own since his promotion, notching another multi-hit game.

GCL Astros 4, GCL Braves 5
  • Jose Morel, LF: 2-3, .292
  • Ibrahim McKenzie, 1B: 2-3, .230
  • Cody Livesay, CF: 1-2, BB, 2 SB(13,14), .313
  • Abraham Espinosa, SP: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 2 K
The GCL Braves nipped the Astros last night behind Cody Livesay's speed. The young centerfielder reached base twice then swiped two bags, giving his 14 on the year. Jose Morel and Ibrahim McKenzie each added a pair of hits as well to back Abraham Espinosa.

EDIT: The author incorrectly stated Wes Parsons was "old for the league". That has been amended.
